About
The mission of our Kids Backpack program is to provide kids with free meals for the weekend, bridging the gap between meals they receive at school or other programs during the week.
In our bags we provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items with an emphasis on providing nutritious shelf stable items. The bags you will put together serve 8 sites across Allen, Adams, Huntington, LaGrange, and Steuben County. We distribute 700 bags on average per month over a year.
When you volunteer to build backpacks for kids you can expect:
- light lifting (about 20lbs).
- being on your feet.
- working in a group setting.
⭐Please be aware, sometimes this activity is cancelled, but we will always give as much notice as possible!
You'll likely be working with Angela Mitchell Kids Program Coordinator on site! 😊
