About

Hello United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra volunteers!

The State of Nevada and FEMA are partnering on a COVID-19 vaccination campaign in the city of Las Vegas. There is an immediate need of volunteers this week (July 19-July 23). Volunteer assignments can be two weeks to a month and possibly longer depending on the need.
FEMA will be coordinating the volunteers, and those living outside a 50 mile radius of the reporting location (Las Vegas, NV) are eligible for FEMA invitational travel, including airfare, hotel, per diem, and car rental.

Duties:
  • Phone banking
  • Door to door outreach, including handing out flyers
  • Working at pop-up vaccination sites
  • Direct outreach to businesses

After coordinating with FEMA, volunteers may decide to work variable-hour shifts (3 hours one day, 6 hours the next, etc.) and may work multi-week, single-week, or single-shift assignments according to volunteer preference. FEMA is asking volunteers to begin as soon as they are able to.

All interested volunteers should contact Dinusha.Weerakkody@fema.dhs.gov

Volunteers more than 50 miles from Las Vegas must review the information below and submit the requested document and necessary information.

The following information is required from all volunteers traveling:

1.    Please fill out the attached SF-1199a form (located under the "Documents" tab near the top of this section). You must manually/physically sign the completed form. [Please note all areas highlighted in yellow must be completed.] You MUST either attach a picture of a voided check, OR have your banking institution sign and complete Section 3, OR  provide a bank statement which includes both the account and routing numbers (both of these numbers are required).

2.   Please include the following information (as it appears on your driver's license/passport) in your response to this volunteer posting: First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Email, Occupation, Street Address, City, State, and Zip Code.

The traveler should return all requested information within 24 hours, as it can take up to five (5) business days to enter a traveler into FEMA’s system. Once FEMA has received and processed the required information, a follow up email with an invitation to book travel will be sent with further instructions. Travelers will need to book travel and will receive reimbursement as appropriate. You must book your common carrier transportation, lodging, and rental car reservations by using FEMA’s Travel Management Center “National Travel”. Their telephone number will be provided to you in the follow-up email.   If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the FEMA representative at Dinusha.Weerakkody@fema.dhs.gov
