Smithsonian Folklife Festival
Saturday, June 29 - Sunday June 30
National Mall Washington, DC
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival, established in 1967, honors contemporary living cultural traditions and celebrates those who practice and sustain them. Produced annually by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the Festival has featured participants from all 50 states and more than 100 countries.
The Social Power of Music
This year we celebrate the power of music to entertain, educate, inspire, preserve history, strengthen identity, and build community.
GET INVOLVED: Volunteers are critical to the success of the Festival, as they work closely with Festival particpants and staff. Join us!
Volunteers must be 16 years or older to apply. The Festival is an excellent opportunity for students who must complete service learning hours for school.
